Two-vehicle crash in Kentucky claims life of Wilmington man

SIMPSON COUNTY, KY. — In the early hours Wednesday, a two-vehicle accident involving a semi on Interstate 65 in Kentucky claimed the life of Roger Lee Hook, a 77-year-old man from Wilmington.

Local Girl Scout awarded Medal of Honor for heroic rescue

MORROW — In a heartwarming ceremony held on Tuesday, Jordann Ponder, a young Girl Scout from Blanchester was bestowed with one of the highest honors in Girl Scouting – the Medal of Honor. The accolade was in recognition of her remarkable act of bravery and quick thinking that saved a 4-year-old boy from drowning last July.

Wilmington High School Students of the Month for March have been announced. The following are the names of the students followed by descriptions of the students by their teachers:

Smithsonian “Outbreak” exhibition comes to ECHS

East Clinton High School students studying infectious diseases, in conjunction with the Clinton County Health District, will host the Smithsonian’s “Outbreak: Epidemics in a Connected World” exhibition for five days running March 18 to March 22.

Deadline nears to request Fischer Funds

There is one month to apply for available funds in the Charles F. Fischer Fund. Requests must be received in the Clinton County Commissioners’ office by 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 24.

SSCC Theatre set to present ‘Firebringer’

The Theatre Department at Southern State Community College presents “Firebringer,” with music and lyrics by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski, book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Brian Holden, and arranged by Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers, playing April 12-14 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

Shining a light on community’s greatest assets

WILMINGTON — Senior Spotlight is a project exploring connections between two generations: youth and senior citizens. The exhibit, which features portraits and stories of the lives of local senior citizens, will be on display in the windows of the Murphy Theatre beginning the week of March 18. A public reception will take place the afternoon of Wednesday, March 20.
