Hollon up next for Blanchester roast Members of the Clinton County, Blanchester Area Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for one of their biggest fund-raising events of the year, the sixth annual celebrity roast, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 17 in the Blanchester High School auditeria.
Long-time Blanchester businessman and councilman Chad Hollon, will be the victim of the roast.
Over the past several years, a number of Blanchester's notables have suffered through an hour and a half of barbs, innuendos, a lot of fiction and a few facts as various members of the community have struggled to verbally barbecue their victims in an effort to entertain the audience and raise funds to support the activities of the chamber.
Past victims have included Harry Brumbaugh, Kermit Zimmerman, Barry Michaelson, Elmer Williams and Rick Burton.
Hollon has, at one time or another, been associated with and held offices in practically every civic organization in Blanchester as well as national organizations such as National Square Dance Association and the US Milk Haulers Association. He attended Leadership Clinton, is a long time member of the chamber and presently serves as vice mayor of Blanchester. For years he has been in charge of the chamber's Fourth of July parade. At the same time he has headed up one of the older businesses in Blanchester, Hollon Trucking, ever since the passing of his father.
There will be no shortage of roasters this year as a number of relatives and so-called friends have clamored to take a hand at turning the spit. They include Chad's brother Dr. John Hollon, his sister Linda Craig, his mother Margaret Hollon, retired Mayor Harry Brumbaugh, Jim Johnson, Jim Krusling, Rick Grant, Steve Lawson, Carlton Binkley and Dwayne Dearth and others not yet confirmed.
Event chairman and master of ceremonies, Elmer Williams, promises an evening of side-splitting entertainment.
Dinner will be catered by Ettalee's Fine Restaurant and entertainment will be provided by the Blanchester High School Jazz Band under the direction of Kevin Lockwood and sponsored by the Blanchester Care Center.
The public is invited. Reservations may be made by sending $15 per person to the Blanchester Area Chamber of Commerce, Box 274, Blanchester, Oh, 45107 by Thursday.
