The third annual Blanchester Community Christmas dinner was a great success with the largest number of persons being served, said Jim Johnson, who helps plan the dinner each year.
Approximately 300 meals were served and delivered to Blanchester residents, and included the traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and homemade desserts.
“Alll those in attendance were rich in their praise of the wonderful meal catered by McCoy’s Catering,” Johnson said. “The true spirit of Christmas was evident as we fellowshipped together and had a chance to share time together with old friends.”
Johnson thanked the dozens of volunteers who baked desserts, helped set up and serve the meal, clean up and deliver the meals. “You are too numerous to mention by name, but we couldn’t have done this without you. We are truly grateful for your help,” he said.
Johnson praised students from Blanchester High School and the junior high for their assistance with the dinner. “What a wonderful thing to have young people give of their time and efforts during the Christmas season.”
Special thanks is also extended to the many businesses and individuals who have financially supported the dinner during the first two years. “Your contributions have made the dinner possible and are greatly appreciated,” Johnson said.
He said the planning committee is already looking forward to next year. “Our hope is that this Christmas dinner will continue to increase in numbers and be a blessing to our community,” he said.
