The 2008 Clinton County Pork Queen will be crowned at the annual banquet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room at the Clinton County Annex, 111 S. Nelson Ave.
Three candidates will vie for pork queen. They are Blair Kathleen Baker, 17, of New Vienna; Stacey Reinsmith of Wilmington; and Kayla Wiederhold, 16, of Reesville.
Tickets are available at the Clinton County Extension Office or from Ruth Earley.
Blair Kathleen Baker currently raises breeding and show swine. She is a junior at East Clinton High School where she is an honor roll student. She is a member of the high school Key Club, for which she serves as reporter and was chairman of the canned food drive. She is an active member of the indoor and outdoor varsity track team, a four-year member of the high school marching band on the drumline, and member of the concert band and drama club. She is a member of the East Clinton FFA Chapter where she currently holds the office of reporter, is a member of the East Clinton FFA Parli-pro team, FFA general livestock judging team, rural soil judging team and a two-year member of the FFA state choir.
A seven-year member of the Clinton County Pioneers 4-H Club, she exhibits market swine, market turkeys, market chickens and breeding chickens.
Baker and her family exhibit breeding swine in out-of-state shows. She currently also is showing beef breeding heifers. She works with the F.A.S.T. program, animal shelter drive and Your Father's Kitchen program.
She has received many awards as a member of the East Clinton FFA, including three-year chapter leadership, star greenhand, first place poultry production, second place turkey production, top FFA general livestock judging team at the 2007 Clinton County Fair and third place in her age division in the Clinton County swine skillathon for the past two years. Her parent is Sylvia Baker.
Stacey Reinsmith is a 2007 graduate of Clinton-Massie High School and is currently attending Southern State Community College where she is majoring in nursing. She is a member of the Port William Wranglers 4-H Club and this is her 11th year in 4-H. Past projects include gardening, cooking, sewing, photography, horses, turkeys and hogs. She also is an active Clinton County Carteens member and 4-H camp counselor. She is the daughter of David and Laura Reinsmith of Wilmington.
Kayla Wiederhold is a student at East Clinton High School where she is a member of the FFA chapter, participating in highway cleanup. She helped raise money for JDRF, participated in the annual Toys for Tots drive, worked at the petting zoo, participated in food delivery and judging livestock. She has received her chapter degree and shows market dairy beef and market hogs as a member of the Clinton County Mix and Match 4-H Club. This is her sixth year in 4-H.
