Southwest Ohio's Regional Leadership Priorities Day will focus on global opportunities

NEWS JOURNAL STAFF REPORT

“Think Global! Act Regional!” is the theme for the third annual Regional Leadership Day that will take place April 17 at Roberts Centre. Sponsored by the community leadership programs of Clinton, Warren and Clermont counties, the nine-hour symposium coupled with the Wilmington Clinton County Chamber luncheon is open to the general public.

According to a media release, the purpose of the interactive day is to engage southwest Ohio’s community leaders and citizens in possibility thinking: to identify workforce challenges, to interact with the leaders involved in these issues, to identify potential solutions and to create action plans for regional projects and initiatives in education, economic development, marketing, business and employee retention and regional impact.

Keynote speakers include Sean Creighton, director of the Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education at 8:15 a.m.; John Cameron, executive vice president of DHL Express for U.S. Operations at 12:30 p.m.; and a possible address in the afternoon by Lt. Governor Lee Fisher.

Facilitating the day will be Lisa Nack, president of Lisa Nack International.

There will be focus group discussions on education, local economic development, regional intiatives, state level initiatives and how to attract new business.

Panelists for a question and anser period include Sean Creighton, executive director of Southwestern Ohio Council on Higher Education; Sherri Stout, president of Southern State Community College; Andy Kuchta, director of Clermont County Economic Development; Mark Policinski, executive director of Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments; Bob Steinbach, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission; Kevin Carver, Ohio Department of Development representative; as well as a yet-to-be announced young professional spokesperson.

Cost is $50 for the all-day symposium including continental breakfast and the chamber luncheon.
