The Family Planning Clinic, located at the Family Health Center on West Locust Street, will close its doors beginning June 30.
Julie Wickline, manager of the Family Health Center operated by Clinton Memorial Hospital, said family planning services will be offered two days every month at the Free Clinic on Sugartree Street in Wilmington.
“Clinton Memorial and Highland County Community Action are collaborating so the services can still be offered to Clinton County residents, but run by Highland County Community Action,” Wickline said.
Initially, family planning services will be available on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Family Planning Clinic provides basic health care for low-income women. Wickline said the clinic offers women’s health services, including breast and cervical care and family planning. “We serviced over 500 individual clients this past year,” she said.
The Family Planning Clinic has been open in Wilmington since 1996 and has operated out of the Family Health Center since November 2007.
“The Family Health Center and Clinton Memorial Hospital are collaborating with Highland County Community Action services to make this new transition to be able to provide services for women’s health,” Wickline said.
