Modern Woodmen honor Hometown Hero

The Clarksville Chapter of Modern Woodmen of America honored sixth-grader Brylin Ruddle as a Hometown Hero on March 19 at a dinner held at Rods Capricorn Inn.

Brylin pulled together other kids to construct 500 valentines bags to hand out at Wilmington elementary schools. He had noticed the year before that some children ended up without a bag or box to put valentines in, so he spearheaded the project to make sure every child had something this year.

Clarksville Chapter Coordinator Bev Mayo said, “Brylin is the oldest of four children and he is a super-hero big brother. He’s on the A & B honor roll in school and was selected as Student of the Month in October 2018.

“He does devotions with his younger siblings each evening before bed; sometimes with the family dog joining in. He is strong in his faith, and he included a message from John 3:16 on the bottom of the ‘Bags of Love’ made for the other kids in school. He is a great role model for his younger siblings, and we are proud to nominate him as a Hometown Hero!”

As part of the Hometown Hero program, Modern Woodmen is donating $100 to the charity of his choice. Every year, Modern Woodmen looks for people who go above and beyond to help others and honors them as a Hometown Hero.

Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States. For more information about Modern Woodmen and its services, call District Agent, Dan Mayo, at 937 725-0445.
