DAR members at state conference; Blanchester teacher earns recognition

Members of the George Clinton Chapter traveled to Columbus for the Ohio Society Daughters of the American Revolution State Conference March 28-31. Those in attendance were: Linda Hamilton, Tracey Rankin Owens, Judy Sargent, Frances Sharp, Nancy Bernard, Barbara Scarboro, Karin Kratzer, Shannon Peters, Kaye Stotts and Joyce Peters.

Judy Sargent, State Music Co-Chair, conducted the State Conference Choir.

George Clinton Chapter members Linda Hamilton, Nancy Bernard, Barbara Scarboro and Frances Sharp joined delegates from other chapters singing in the choir. Mrs. Sargent also provided music for the business meetings and meals. Tracey Rankin Owen assisted the pages while Frances Sharp, Volunteer Genealogist, assisted members with new and supplemental applications.

The chapter was presented several certificates of recognition.

Blanchester High School Teacher Tony Blevins was awarded the Outstanding Teacher in American History for the State of Ohio by State Historian Kimberly Kay Lewis. The award is given annually to recognize a notable full-time teacher of American History (and related fields such as social studies, government or citizenship education in grades 5-12).

Assistant Principal Pandy McCarty accompanied Mr. Blevins.
