BATAVIA — Thursday, a Clermont County grand jury indicted Michael Workman, 41, of Blanchester, for two counts of alleged rape and two counts of alleged gross sexual imposition.

Both alleged rape offenses are first-degree felonies, and both alleged gross sexual imposition charges are fourth-degree felonies.

The indictment alleges Workman purposely compelled the victim to have sex with him using force or the threat of force, and had reason to believe the alleged victim’s ability to resist or consent was impaired.

All accusations involve a minor victim, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

Clermont County assistant prosecutor Scott O’Reilly said Workman didn’t have access to the alleged victim through one of the organizations he volunteered with, including the Boy Scouts of America.

“No, this was somebody who was known to him,” O’Reilly said.

The alleged crimes occurred in November, according to a copy of Workman’s indictment and in Wayne Township, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

Workman was arrested Friday, Feb. 5.
