FriendShop at Caesar Creek Flea Market benefits community

WILMINGTON — Caesar Creek has designated Market Two of the Flea Market as the FriendShop — a building full of second-hand items and a goal to give back to the Clinton County Community — starting this month.

Each month, a charity of choice will be selected to receive 25 percent of all sales generated in that month.

“It’s purchasing for a purpose,” said Al Bell, CEO of Levin Service Company and Caesar Creek Flea Market. “We want shoppers to come into the Market and know that of every dollar spent in the FriendShop, a quarter goes directly to a local non-profit that is making a difference in our community. It’s not a new concept, but it’s one that we believe will serve our neighbors well.”

And in March, the Friends of Clarksville will be the first group to benefit from the FriendShop.

“We are very appreciative of the opportunity to generate funds through the Flea Market’s FriendShop,” said Wade Hall, member of the Friends of Clarksville. “This donation will go to help fund the playground equipment for the new Clarksville Community Park.”

The Friends of Clarksville is a non-profit community group whose mission is building community, restoring hope and growing our future for the Clarksville area.

Tucked into the eclectic mixture of flea market vendors, the FriendShop offers a variety of items ranging from furniture, toys and household items to sporting goods, apparel and electronics. All of which are donated items from the community.

“Do you have unwanted items in your house?” asks Amber Bailey, Operations Manager for Caesar Creek. “Donate your stuff to the FriendShop. Every little bit counts. The clothes you don’t wear anymore, those pots and pans taking up space in your cabinets, well, somebody wants to buy them. Your donations are key to the success of the FriendShop and part of that money from the sales of your donated items will go to a different community organization each month. It’s good for our environment. It’s good for our local economy…and it’s good for our community.”

Whether you are looking to free up some space, donate to a vital community organization or find your next conversation piece, the FriendShop is the spot.

The FriendShop, established in 2020, is an initiative by Caesar Creek Flea Market to generate funds that will go back into the community throughout the year. The FriendShop accepts donations on behalf of the charity partners, sell the items in the Market, and then disburses 25 percent of the sales at the end of each month.

Built in 1979, Caesar Creek Flea Market is one of the oldest and largest flea markets in Ohio, with hundreds of year-round indoor vendors, three consignment buildings and 22 acres of outdoor vendors and a farmers market.
