SR132 near county line to be closed

A 14-day closure will be in place on SR 132 between Gum Grove Road and the Warren/Clinton County line beginning the week of July 20 for culvert replacement work, announced the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The closure will be in place from 7 a.m. Monday, July 20 through 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3.

Northbound traffic will be detoured to westbound SR 350 to southbound U.S. 22/3 to eastbound SR 123 to SR 132; southbound traffic will follow this detour in reverse.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming road closure. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

Peace Corp picnic in Clarksville

The annual summer picnic for returned Peace Corps volunteers and prospective volunteers and their families will take place on Sunday, July 19 beginning at 3 p.m. at historic Hadley Farms at 1133 Lebanon Road, Clarksville. The event is sponsored by SORVO, the Southwest Ohio Returned PC Volunteer Organization, and CARV, the Cincinnati Area Returned Volunteers, and will included the annual volleyball match between the two groups.

There will be a short presentation by local resident Sam Fullen, who has recently returned from his Peace Corps service in Ghana. There will be an opportunity for questions. Several local newly invited Peace Corps Volunteers who are ready to leave for training and service abroad will also be attending, along with regional Peace Corps recruiter Katy Sylvester.

Guests should bring a typical dish from their country of service to share, or other food. Drinks, table service, and hot dogs for the grill will be provided by the hosts. The historic house and barn will be open for touring, and there will be outdoor games and farm pond activities available.
