COLUMBUS (AP) — Three apparently unrelated shootings in Ohio’s capital city over the weekend have left a man and an unborn child dead and three people wounded, authorities said.

Two of the shootings in Columbus happened within 15 minutes of each other on Sunday night, while the third occurred early Monday. Motives for all three remain under investigation.

The first shooting was reported around 7:15 p.m., when at least one person in a vehicle opened fire while traveling on Brandenberry Court West. Virgilio Aguilera, 52, was struck by one shot and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.

Another drive-by shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m., when someone shot and wounded a pregnant 15-year-old girl as she and a man walked in the area of Joyce and Denune avenues. The girl, whose name was not released, remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition, but her unborn child did not survive.

The man walking with the teen was not injured, authorities said.

The final shooting occurred around 12:35 a.m. Monday, when someone walked up to two men and a 17-year-old boy and opened fire, authorities said. One of the men was shot once in the left arm, while the teen was shot once in the face and thigh and twice in the stomach.

The shooter fled the scene on foot and remains at large.

The two victims were hospitalized but were expected to survive, authorities said. The other man with them was not injured.
