Work to close East Locust

WILMINGTON — A road closure to westbound through traffic on East Locust Street will start about 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 and is anticipated to re-open about 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, weather permitting.

The location is about 0.06 mile — 320 feet — east of the railroad crossing which is near United Dairy Farmers and Speedway.

The road is being closed due to necessary repairs to the train track and rail crossing. The Indiana & Ohio Railway/CSX will perform the repairs.

During the construction work, Locust Street will be completely closed to westbound traffic at the intersection of Locust Street and College Street. Detours will be marked to enable local traffic to avoid the road closure.

Truck traffic will be strictly prohibited on East Locust Street during the closure. All trucks must use the 73 Bypass to travel through the city, stated a news release.

The City of Wilmington asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near this work zone.

Questions regarding the closure may be made to the Office of the Director of Public Service, 937-382-6509.
