Habitat’s Restore needs your help

Habitat for Humanity’s Restore wants the public to know that its struggling since the recent move.

“I think people have lost us,” said Theresa Gregory, Habitat for Humanity Restore manager. “When we moved from Locust Street last September to our new larger location on 1032 Main Street near Houston’s Heating and Air Conditioning, we lost some of our valued customers and donors.”

“We want those customers to come back and see what a great selection we have and soon, we will be heading to some of the regional hardware shows and our merchandise will be packed.”

The new address is close to the county fairgrounds entrance.

There has been some confusion about the store’s hours, too. The Restore is open on Wednesday and Thursday nights from 4:30 to 7 pm. On Saturdays, the store is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gregory said that there has been a surge in upcycling and renovating Restore merchandise — following the popular television show, Flea Market Flip. Customers are demonstrating their creative side by re-imagining the Restore’s great selection of hardware, furniture and castoffs.

Store volunteers are happy to help those who need a little inspiration or want an inexpensive renovation.
