The East Clinton FFA Dairy Team participated in, and judged in, the dairy cattle finals for the State FFA contest Saturday at the Waterman Dairy farm at The Ohio State University. The team of Peyton Vest, Taylor Beockmann, Gracie McCarren and Tabby Vance finished second in the state.

“The team worked exceptionally hard going to several farms and doing several sets of reasons,” according to Advisor Matt Griffith, “but did unfortunately fall from first in pre-lims to lose by 9 total points, but still did an exceptional job placing second overall.”

Peyton finished 11th, Taylor was 16th, Gracie was 17th and Tabby was 26th overall in the state. The team qualified for Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin at the World Dairy Expo next fall.

The team would like to thank all the farms who supported them along the way by allowing the team out to their farms. “We traveled all across the state to over 15 dairy farms, judging classes and preparing reasons,” Griffith said.

The finals team was joined by Dakota Slone, Ashley Kinner, Hannah Pickering, Denver Bernard, Bailey Corcoran, Grace Cooper, Shelby Williams and Olivia Wood, as they also judged at Pre-lims.

“They will be back and ready for the next judging season next school year and for Nationals in the fall,” Griffith said.
