UNION TOWNSHIP — Two men were transported early Monday to Clinton Memorial Hospital following a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on U.S. 68 north of Wilmington.

The injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

Kenneth Deangelis, 51, of Franklin, was cited with a left-of-center violation, said Lt. Stanley Jordan, commander of the Wilmington OSHP post.

Deangelis was traveling south on U.S. 68 in a Chevrolet S-10. The S-10 pickup reportedly went off the right edge of the roadway, with Deangelis then “over-correcting” and his vehicle going across the center line and hitting a Chevrolet Silverado head-on, according to Jordan.

The Silverado, headed north, was operated by Jon Kelch, 57, of Hillsboro.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts, Jordan said.

The crash occurred about 6:35 a.m. Monday.
