WILMINGTON — A benefit will be held on Saturday, June 13 for cancer patient Pauline “Polly” Upchurch Zoller, born and raised in Wilmington.

For three years, Zoller has battled cervical cancer and undergone two surgeries and chemotherapy.

Her sister, Jonitta “JJ” Bell, is hosting the benefit fundraiser for Zoller with the help of many friends.

Area businesses, friends and caring people have donated items to be raffled. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward out-of-pocket medical expenses, eye glasses and dental work from the effects of the chemo, said Bell.

To be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, the location is a farm at 3353 State Route 134, south of Wilmington, marked by balloons and near McMahon’s Mobile Home Park. The event will be held rain or shine, with many activities inside a barn.

Your choice of hamburger or hot dog, chips and a drink will be served for a $2 donation.

There will be cake walks, guessing games, Harley rides, a Hula Hoop contest, raffles and more.

More than 30 items will be raffled. Tickets for “regular”raffles will be six tickets for $5, or $20 for an arm length — which consists of 32 tickets.

There also will be two “big” raffle drawings at the end of the event for which each ticket is $25. The winner of the first big raffle will receive four tickets to Dollywood or Dollywood Splash Park, along with four tickets to the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. (retail value $320).

The winner of the second big raffle will get a two-night stay at the Ramada Inn with continental breakfast in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. (retail value $220). Prize winners don’t have to be present to win.

“All are encouraged to come and enjoy a day of laughter and fun and meet my amazing sister,” said Bell.

The fundraiser is called the “Faith, hope, and love benefit for Pauline Zoller.”
