Bob Lambert, the director of the Highland County Convention and Visitors Bureau, was dismissed from that job Tuesday morning after his arrest on charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, both second-degree felonies.

Tom Horst, the Highland County Commissioner who is president of the CVB board, told The Times-Gazette that Lambert was fired around 8:30 Thursday morning. Lambert, 62, had already resigned from the position effective the end of August.

In a press release, Hillsboro Police Department Chief Todd Whited said that nearly two years ago on Oct. 30, 2014, “I was advised by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office of a complaint in regards to Robert Lambert of East Main St., Hillsboro. The complaint was in regards to inappropriate sexual acts. Officers had also received information regarding similar incidents involving Lambert. At the request of the Hillsboro Police Department Ohio BCI conducted an investigation with their cybercrimes division.”

Whited said that early Tuesday morning “the police department received information in regards to criminal activity involving sexual acts with minors at a residence in the 400 block of East Main Street. During this investigation officers received information that led to a search warrant being served at the residence of Robert D. Lambert at 449 East Main St. Officers have collected numerous items of evidence that will be sent to BCI for examination.”

Whited said that Lambert is currently being held at the Highland County Justice Center and will be charged with illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance 2907.323 Ohio Revised Code, a second degree felony, and pandering obscenity with a minor, 2907.321 Ohio Revised Code, a fifth degree felony. But the jail entry later on Lambert listed both charges as second-degree felonies. A court appearance was set for 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Lambert was previously a member of the Hillsboro Planning Commission and the Civil Service Commission, but he resigned both those posts on June 22, effective July 1.
