WPD: 2 jailed for burglary, assault

0

This week we arrested Lucius Reddick, 21, and John Goodson, 29, both from Memphis, Tennessee. They came to Wilmington and allegedly broke into a house and seriously assaulted a resident. Both are currently housed in the Clinton County Jail charged with burglary and assault.

I can’t thank our residents enough for their willingness to aid our department. This was call was solved quickly by a fast response of our patrol units and working diligently with the neighbors to locate one suspect. Officers arrested the second suspect later in the morning.

We made 30 arrests for the week. We have charges on one person who stole an American flag and set fire to it. Some of the arrests that stand out include: Kathy Slone, 52, of Wilmington charged with theft; Joseph LaRue, 39, of Wilmington was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle; Aaron Miller, 34, of Wilmington was charged with improper handling of firearms in a vehicle; Jesse Jones age 34, of Leesburg was charged with violating a protection order and resisting arresting; and Marc Burch, 25, of Wilmington was charged with theft.

The total calls for service ended up for the week at 372. Welfare checks were the leading call for service this past week.

We had 10 theft reports and they mainly consist of shoplifting incidents. One exception to that is a theft of a vehicle; however, the suspect in this case is a family member and charges will be forthcoming.

Our communications section has dispatched 60 squad runs for the week and an additional 16 fire calls.
