Attendees line up for Donald Trump rally

WILMINGTON — As they waited in their car for the rally to start — with a “Hillary for Prison” sign displayed in the window — sisters Susan Maynard and Millie Hollard looked forward to attending their first Donald Trump rally Friday at the Wilmington Air Park.

Maynard, of South Salem, Ohio, who donned a “Proud Member of the Basket of Deplorables” shirt, believes that the Republican nominee represents their voice.

“I worked as an EMT for 28 years and there are a lot of EMT and police in our family, and I believe that he is our voice,” said Maynard, “and we need to be heard.”

Her sister Millie came all the way up from Daytona Beach, Florida to visit their mother, who just had knee replacement surgery, but to also attend her first rally as well.

“I’m so tired of the corrupt politicians and I feel that Mr. Trump as a businessman will pull us out of our economic funk,” said Hollard.

According to Maynard, while in past elections there have been differing opinions, the whole family is voting for Trump.

They weren’t the only ones making it a family affair. Michelle Jewett of Carlisle along with her niece and nephew, Caleb and Abby Eisenhart both of Loveland, came to see the person they think will be the next president.

One of the first people in line was Linda Ishmael of Covington, Kentucky, who arrived around 8 a.m. for the 4 p.m. event to attend her sixth Trump rally.

“I’ve been following him since he came down the escalator and announced his campaign,” said Ishmael. “He’s honest and he gets to the point.”

Among the other early arrivals was Sally Hamilton of Milford, who got there at 8:03 a.m. and believes Trump will keep to his motto, “Make America Great Again.”

“I believe that he’ll keep his promise and that he’ll get rid of the corruption in our country,” she said.

For Shirley Miller of Lebanon, she believes that Trump has nothing personal to gain since he’s already a billionaire.

“He’s running because he loves America,” said Miller. “I pray for a landslide.”
