WPD: Thefts from acquaintances

0

As we lead up to the holidays, dispatcher and officers have been busy — our communications staff dispatched police 346 times, EMS 65 times, and handled 19 fire incidents.

This week WPD arrested 25 people for various crimes, and once again the bulk of our calls fell into the assist citizen category.

We had 10 theft reports during the week. Two of these are thefts of a bike, plus theft of an antique wagon wheel, theft of a computer, theft of a cell phone, and theft of license plates. Many of our thefts we deal with lately involve one party stealing from someone they know.

This Saturday, we kick off HoliDazzle. Traffic will be backed up at times since the route starts at the high school and turns on Thorne, Farquhar, and then Main Street where it ends near the courthouse. Please plan accordingly as this can create traffic issues for about an hour.

The parade kicks off at 7 p.m. and parking downtown can be limited with the volume of people that show up for this great parade.
