WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Schools Foundation met recently to honor retiring board members Jennifer Hollon and Judy Johnson.
A charter member and 17-year board member, Jennifer Hollon was instrumental in the initial planning stages of the organization. Throughout her tenure, Hollon held every officer position on the board’s executive committee and also served as the Alumni Historian.
Jennifer Johnson, a member of the board for five years, served as board secretary four years.
The foundation also welcomed new members to the board: Leslie Carr Beal, from the Class of 1972; Marci Huelskamp, Class of 2002; Fayanne Saunders, Class of 1969; Brian Shidaker, Class of 2000; and Joni Streber, Class of 1975.
Also in attendance, representing the Knights of Columbus, was Grand Knight Bob Strobel who presented a donation in the amount of $11,300 to the WSF, which had previously been named the 2016 charity recipient and partner in the hosting of the annual Oktoberfest celebration.
Established in 1988, the WSF remains committed to providing financial strength for innovations and enhancements of the Wilmington City School District in pursuit of the highest standard of academic excellence, top quality arts and athletic programs, and exemplary leadership programs.
Since its establishment, the WSF has supported the educational experience through grants, scholarships, and special programs.
