WILMINGTON — The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center, in partnership with Blanchester, East Clinton, Clinton-Massie and Wilmington Schools, is hosting an evening informational meeting to publicize information and guidance on Ohio’s new College Credit Plus initiative.

Formerly known as PSEO (post-secondary enrollment options), College Credit Plus provides students an opportunity to take courses and earn high school and college credit that appears on both their high school and college transcripts. Parents and their students entering grades 7 through 12 in the 2017-2018 school year are encouraged to attend.

The College Credit Plus Informational Night will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 (inclement weather date is Jan. 26) from at the Laurel Oaks Career Development Center, 300 Oak Drive, Wilmington.

A general overview will be given at 6 p.m. in the mall area of the Laurel Oaks main facility to share basic elements and principles of the College Credit Plus (CCP) program, as well as ACT information. At the conclusion of the explanation, parents and students will be invited to meet with their respective high school counselors to learn district-specific information pertaining to College Credit Plus, the risks and benefits of participation, as well as application requirements, timelines, and procedures for expressing intent to participate.

The culminating event of the evening will be a College Informational Fair. Several Institutions of Higher Education, including area colleges and universities, have been invited to participate. Representatives from various institutions will share information about their College Credit Plus options and distribute materials necessary for students considering enrollment.
