Love is in the air in WCH

WASHINGTON C.H. — Just a day before Valentine’s Day, a Cherry Hill Primary teacher was taken by surprise with a visit from the “TODAY” show’s Al Roker and a very important question from her boyfriend.

Christopher Vestal, a 24-year-old airplane pilot, has been in a relationship with Cherry Hill music teacher Kimberly Gepfrey for about a year-and-a-half, and recently decided he would like to propose. After submitting his story to NBC TODAY’s “Marry Me TODAY,” Vestal received help to propose to his girlfriend and was able to do just that on Monday morning.

The proposal occurred inside Gepfrey’s classroom in front of her elementary students.

“Kimberly is an elementary music teacher at Washington Court House,” Vestal said during an interview with TODAY. “She teaches kindergarten, first and second grade. She absolutely loves her job, she loves everything she does with her students. I pretty much fell head-over-heels for her the first night we met. Kimberly just has everything that you would desire to want to have in a woman. She makes the room glow every time she’s in one. She’s just a very special person to me.”

Vestal went on to say that he decided to propose because since the beginning, he knew she was the one. He finished the interview with a message to his soon-to-be-wife saying he loves her, he knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with her and that he knew from the beginning that he couldn’t wait to propose.

“I am great!” Gepfrey told the Record-Herald following their TODAY appearance. “It is so overwhelming. I had no idea what was going on. I feel like everyone was in on it and everyone was keeping secrets. It was a huge surprise to turn around and see Al Roker at Cherry Hill Primary. It was a huge shock. I did not know what to say, it is overwhelming. What (Christopher) did was above and beyond what I had ever expected. I love him so much and I am so excited to start the rest of our lives together. It is very exciting.”

Gepfrey’s students at Cherry Hill also helped in the proposal by holding signs that said “Will you marry me?” She said that the kids were very excited to help and spent the rest of the day congratulating her.

“They don’t quite understand the engagement and marriage process so they kept saying, ‘She’s married, she’s married!’” Gepfrey said with a laugh. “So I had to tell them I am in the process.”

But the surprises didn’t stop there as Roker explained to the couple that TODAY will be providing a honeymoon getaway to the Dominican Republic for the couple to enjoy the Secrets Cap Cana Resort and Spa. The package includes a couple’s massage ultimate luxury experience with $350 in air credit. Gepfrey said that the trip is going to be awesome.
