BLANCHESTER — Police charged a local man Thursday with illegal cultivation of marijuana in an amount less than 200 grams and two counts of possession of criminal tools.

Late Thursday morning, Blanchester Police went to 115 W. Fancy St. after police said they received a citizen tip indicating that marijuana was being cultivated on the property.

An officer spoke with the tenant at the residence, Zachariah “Bryce” Gregory, 25, who permitted the officer to enter a shed on the property, according to Police Chief Scott Reinbolt.

“Once inside the shed the officer found eight marijuana plants growing there,” Reinbolt said. “The marijuana was seized, which Gregory stated was for his personal use for medical reasons. Officers also seized lamps, buckets and hydration equipment that were being used in the cultivation process.

All charges are misdemeanors and will be heard in the Clinton County Municipal Court, Reinbolt said. He added that the seized marijuana will be taken to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory for examination and analysis.
