BLANCHESTER — A family quarrel escalated and resulted in one arrest in addition to another man jailed for previous charges, according to Blanchester police.

A Blanchester officer was dispatched to a domestic dispute at 303 N. Wright Street at around 4:30 p.m. Monday involving a report of a man with a baseball bat. The officer requested back-up assistance from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, but no deputies were available.

“When he arrived, the officer found three men and one woman in the yard in an argument with two children nearby,” said Police Chief Scott Reinbolt. “One of the men was holding a baseball bat and two of the men started to walk away from the scene and were stopped by the officer.”

He said one of the men, Kevin Noe, 46, was found to be wanted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for possession of drugs; he was arrested.

“Another family member of the participants arrived, the woman asked for emergency medical attention, the situation began to escalate, and a Trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to assist,” Rienbolt said. “We are grateful for the Patrol’s assistance.”

He said the officer interviewed those present, with those interviews producing conflicting accounts of the incident. Eventually, Reinbolt said, evidence was gathered indicating that Jeffery Drake, 29, of 303 N. Wright St. “made threats of physical harm against his paramour”, Emily Noe, 21, of the same address.

“It appears that Drake then made aggressive movements toward Ms. Noe, she pushed him, and another resident of the home grabbed a baseball bat in order to defend Ms. Noe,” Reinbolt said.

Drake was arrested and charged with domestic violence and will answer the charge in the Clinton County Municipal Court, Reinbolt said.

Kevin Noe was transported to the Clinton County Jail to await extradition to Franklin County.
