Make a difference: Attend Suicide Prevention Coalition meeting

WILMINGTON — Are you concerned about the suicide rate in Clinton County? Have you been impacted by the suicide of a loved one? Have you ever wondered what you can do to make a difference in the community? This is your opportunity.

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Warren & Clinton Counties will hold a “Clinton County Focus Meeting” 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28.

The Suicide Prevention Coalition has been operating for more than 10 years with outreach, training and support available to the two counties. At this point, the Coalition would like to create some real synergy in Clinton County, specifically by recruiting more new faces and re-engaging those who have been past participants.

The Coalition will be hosting a community meeting to:

• Provide an overview of what the Coalition has done thus far.

• Share suicide death statistics to better understand the impact on the community.

• Solicit information from participants regarding their observations and prevention ideas.

• Share how you can become part of the Coalition.

You do not have to be a behavioral health professional to attend. The Coalition would like feedback from everyone including community members, law enforcement, social service agency staff, school staff, medical professionals, clergy and others.

“Please consider joining us for this important meeting. We ask that you kindly pre-register so that we can prepare enough handouts,” a spokesperson said.

The March 28 meeting will be held in the community room at the Clinton County Job & Family Services facility, 1025 S. South St. in Wilmington.
