WILMINGTON — Matt McDowell recently spoke about Big Brothers Big Sisters to the Wilmington Rotary club which meets at noon on Mondays.

He stated that Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; its goal is to help all children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the oldest and largest youth mentoring organizations in the United States. They mentor children of all ages in communities across the country.

The Warren and Clinton County Big Brothers and Big Sisters is a school based program.

The time a mentor invests with a child can be 45 minutes to 1 ½ hour for school visits, and 1 ½ to 3-hour community activities.

Positive outcomes are huge, and help the kids make better decisions. Also, the kids see a positive role model.

Big Brothers Big Sisters currently seeks mentors and 1-2 board members from Clinton County.
