Clinton County Medication Disposal Day set

0

Is your medicine cabinet full of expired or unused medications? Help keep your community safe at Clinton County Medication Disposal Day set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 29 at three Clinton County locations.

Ninety-six percent of unintentional poisoning deaths in Ohio are due to drugs and medications. And more people die from unintentional medication poisoning than from motor vehicle accidents. And every day 2,500 teens use a prescription drug to get high for the first time.

On April 29 you can drop off any expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications; samples; and patches. You should black out or remove personal information. No needles, syringes or liquids will be accepted.

Law enforcement officers will dispose of your medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.

Your medications may be dropped off April 29 at one of these locations:

• Wilmington — Foster J. Boyd, MD regional Cancer Center

• Sabina — Uhl’s IGA, 440 E. Washington St. (US 22/Ohio 3)

• Blanchester — Blanchester village offices parking lot, 318 E. Main St.

The event is sponsored by Mental Health Recovery Services of Warren & Clinton Counties, Solutions Community Counseling and Recovery Center, Suicide Prevention Coalition of Warren/Clinton Counties, CMH Regional Health System, Oncology Hematology Care, Clinton County Sheriff Ralph D. Fizer Jr., and the Wilmington, Blanchester and Sabina police departments.
