Lions, community team for mulch project

Selling and delivering mulch is one of the money making projects taken on by the Wilmington Lions Club each year.

The weather was good this year during deliveries on Saturdays, April 8 and 15. Approximately 3,000 bags of mulch were sold and delivered.

Lions Bill Temple and George Mitchell co-chaired this project. Many Lions members were involved in dispatching, collection, and preparing food for the helpers.

About eight pickup trucks were provided by Lions members and parents of one of the football players who helped.

The Wilmington Lions Club is grateful again this year to Wilmington High School Football Coach Scott Killen for bringing his team to help with loading and delivering. Co-chair Bill Temple has, for the last several years, made arrangements with the high school coach to provide these volunteers.

Mulch is purchased from Mulch America and Director of Operations Dave Cox provides forklifts and operators to load delivery trucks.
