Habitat for Humanity golf outing set for July 21

Spring is here and area golfers are lining up their summer charity golf outings, and one that should not be missed is the Clinton County Habitat for Humanity outing planned for July 21.

Snow Hill Country Club is the venue and the luncheon starts at noon, with a start at 1 p.m. The alternate weather date is July 28.

This outing is critical to the group’s charitable efforts to build affordable secure housing in Clinton County. Golfers are assured of a great game of golf and the knowledge that they have contributed to the stability of a community organization that ensures new homeowners have solid affordable housing.

Many are mistaken that our Habitat gives away free homes. Deserving families and individuals who qualify for the program repay a no-interest loan to the Habitat for Humanity organization. Most homes cost $50,000 to $70,000 to build and homeowners must pay the loans.

The payments combined with charitable contributions allow the group to continue to build new homes for the next deserving homeowner. In 2016, Clinton County had their first homeowner complete their loan payments.
