Keeping up a local observance of the annual National Day of Prayer, Clinton County residents are led in prayer shortly after noon on Thursday by Pastor Dan Mayo of the New Vienna Community Church. The occasion was held under the dome at the Clinton County Courthouse. Jessica Boyer sang the National Anthem and led the group in singing “God Bless America” at the conclusion of the event. Wilmington Mayor John M. Stanforth’s official Proclamation stated, in part: “Whereas, it is strongly felt that this community and this city have not done all they can to help themselves until we turn to God, in humble prayer, to ask for wisdom and strength;” and further, “Whereas, praying for peace, praying for continued economic recovery, praying for jobs, praying for our citizens who are in need is an important aspect of being a loving, caring community.”
