Lions honor 4 with scholarships

The Wilmington Lions Club honored its four scholarship awardees with a dinner for them and their parents at the club’s May 1 meeting.

One senior student from each of the Clinton County high schools was selected to receive a $1,500 freshman college year award. Selection was based primarily on community service and leadership both in and outside of school.

Awardees were: Blanchester — Merri E. Lindsey; Clinton-Massie — Jocelyn Elaine Burton; East Clinton — Devin Andrew Henson; and Wilmington — Alison Claire Dooley.

Each student, following a presentation “Going to College” by Christine Snyder, gave a short talk introducing their parents, mentioning high points (and some lows) of their school experience, and announcing their plans for the upcoming year and the future.
