Little Hearts Big Smiles: Team up with Braydyn

Editor’s Note: Little Hearts Big Smiles, which has been helping Clinton Countians for more than 10 years as a supportive outlet for families raising special needs children, will host its annual 5K and fun run on May 20.

All proceeds will go to benefit Phase 4 of the Little Hearts Big Smiles Playground on Fife Avenue in Wilmington, which includes the addition of handi-accessible restrooms for children and families.

This year, Little Hearts Big Smiles is rallying participants to show support by joining one of six teams led by a captain: Andrew’s Army; Brei’s Brigade;Team Paxton and Irene; Gracie’s Squad; Team Braydyn; and Abby’s Army.

For six days leading up to the event, the News Journal is profiling the team captains. This is the fourth profile. More information on the event follows the story.

Braydyn Carr is smart, funny and full of life — those who know him call the 3-year-old boy a little fiery firecracker.

Braydyn has cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder, cortical visual impairment, dysphagia, dystonia, microcephaly and epilepsy.

He enjoys the beach, swimming, and he loves to play with his bubble machine with his cousins.

Little Hearts Big Smiles is looking forward to taking him to the handi-accessible playground and seeing everything that will spark his interest. His bubbly personality and huge smile warms the hearts of anyone that comes into contact with him.

Little Hearts Big Smiles feels blessed and honored to be a part of his life, and hope to give him all the smiles that his little heart desires.

About the event
