BLANCHESTER —A Blanchester man was arrested after police say he was drunk and in possession of a meat cleaver and a hypodermic needle.

At around 8:45 p.m. Friday, Blanchester police responded to a report of a drunk man walking on South Broadway Street near Fancy Street. An officer responded and found the man to be Bruce “Adam” Cornett, 27, of Willow Drive, police said.

“The officer found Cornett to be concealing a small meat cleaver on his person, which he informed the officer he had just finished sharpening,” said Police Chief Scott Reinbolt. “He was arrested for carrying concealed weapons. He was searched after he was arrested and found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle.”

Along with the weapons charge, Cornett was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments, both misdemeanor offenses.

He was issued a summons and released, Reinbolt said, and Cornett will answer the charges in the Clinton County Municipal Court.

Police say that Cornett was in possession of this meat cleaver.
