WILMINGTON — Wilmington police say they flushed out and arrested a wanted man who had been hiding at a Kentucky Avenue residence.

Police received tips Tuesday of a wanted person at 54 Kentucky Ave.

“It was reported to us that Patrick Butts, 40, with an at-large address was hiding in the garage at that residence,” said WPD Chief Duane Weyand. “WPD had tried to arrest him Friday when officers got into a pursuit with him and called it off as it became unsafe to chase him.

“WPD responded and secured the garage and residence. The residence was searched and additional information was obtained to verify Butts was hiding in the garage. It was also reported to us on a couple of occasions that Butts was in possession of a firearm.”

Weyand said Butts was ordered out of the garage for several hours and refused to come out. WPD SWAT then introduced gas into the garage and moments later Butts came out of the garage and surrendered.

He was taken into custody without any further incident. He is currently in Clinton County Jail on bond.

No other information was available at presstime.
