WILMINGTON — Jermaine Isaac has been named the City of Wilmington’s new Superintendent of Parks and Recreation.

“I look forward to the transition period and am confident that the park board chose the best candidate,” said current parks superintendent Lori Williams, who is retiring from the post in July. “Jermaine will continue to serve the community with extraordinary results.”

“After reviewing many impressive applications and completing extensive interviews, the park board is pleased to announce the hiring of Jermaine Isaac,” said Wilmington Park Board President Maria Butcher. “Jermaine brings a wide range of professional experience to the position. He is committed to the community and will be a huge asset to the city parks.

“We look forward to working with Jermaine as he continues the outstanding work Lori began five years ago.”

A Michigan native, Isaac began cultivating his career in sports management during his collegiate years with Wilmington College as an athlete on the football and track team while obtaining his degree in Sports Management.

He has tied himself to the Wilmington community through his activities, which include prior coaching for Wilmington City Schools (basketball), Wilmington Youth Football and by being a Leadership Clinton committee member.

“I’m excited to be joining the city in this role and looking forwarding to continuing the standard of excellence of our parks, trails and programming,” he said. “Wilmington has been great to my family and I. We love it here and can’t wait to play, discover and celebrate with our community!”
