HILLSBORO — The Festival of the Bells is coming soon to Hillsboro, and festival entertainment chairman Rick Williams and other committee members traveled to Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati Sunday evening to watch festival headliner Brett Young perform.
Young was part of the Lady Antebellum show at Riverbend, and Williams and others met with him backstage, where he promoted his upcoming festival appearance by holding up a sign that played off his hit song, “In Case You Didn’t Know.”
Young will perform in Hillsboro at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. Other major entertainment during the festival includes Christian music star Danny Gokey on Thursday, July 6, and William Michael Morgan on Friday, July 7.
Williams said Monday that Young was impressive both on stage and off Sunday night. He said Young stands 6’6, so he’s an imposing presence.
“As soon as I said hello, he said, ‘Hey, we’ll see you in a couple of weeks,’” said Williams.
Williams said he was able to inform Young that his video for “In Case You Didn’t Know” had just reached the top spot on CMT’s music video hits list.
According to his website, Young has a busy tour schedule, but Williams noted he has a few days off before his festival appearance, so “he should be well rested.”
In addition to “In Case You Didn’t Know,” Young is a nominee for ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year and has a hit with “Sleeping Without You,” among other songs.
Morgan is known for his hit “I Met A Girl,” as well as several other songs.
Gokey had the No. 1 hit on Christian Air Play earlier this year with “Rise.”
