A 36-year-old Hillsboro man walking alongside Antioch Road near the Highland-Clinton County line was struck by a vehicle Tuesday that reportedly fled the scene.

David Stidham was ultimately transported by MedFlight helicopter to Kettering Medical Center with what the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) described as serious injuries.

The vehicle, a 2002 Buick Rendezvous SUV (sport utility vehicle), was located near Fallsville in Highland County.

The pedestrian was walking northbound off the side of Antioch Road when the northbound vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck Stidham and fled the scene, according to OSHP Wilmington post Assistant Commander Sgt. Joshua Hunter.

There is a possible identification of who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, but the matter remains under investigation and the name was not released Wednesday morning.

The time of the incident was about 5:14 p.m. Tuesday, with the location being on the Highland County side of the county line.
