Homeless Shelter Donation Center temporarily closed due to contruction

WILMINGTON — The Clinton County Homeless Shelter is temporarily closing the Donation Center due to construction taking place around the facility.

The purpose of the closure is to make necessary repairs and expansion of the parking lot located behind the Darleen Myers House at 390 Main St. in Wilmington.

Effective immediately, the parking lot behind 390 Main St. will be closed and the shelter will be unable to accept or distribute donations. Anticipated reopening of the Donation Center is Sept. 1.

The shelter appreciates your patience during this time and looks forward to being able to receive and distribute donations again beginning Sept.1.

The Matrka Family House at 36 Gallup St. and the Men’s Annex at 30 Gallup St. will remain open and emergency shelter will continue to be provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week for current residents and those in need of emergency shelter during the expansion project.

With the support of donations from the Clinton County community, approximately 200 people reside at the shelter each year and those living at the shelter and numerous families living in the community receive assistance with food, clothing, household items, furniture and other essential items.

Since Jan. 1, 120 people have lived at the Clinton County Homeless Shelter including 22 children. Additionally, 22,610 meals have been provided to those residing at the shelter and 45 households living in the community have been assisted with food.
