Power remains out for about 35 Wilmington homes

WILMINGTON — A quick storm that struck Wilmington at about 3 p.m. Thursday knocked out power to some homes and businesses, but was soon restored — except for about 35 homes on and around Bernice St. east of downtown due to a blown transformer.

DP&L’s outage center stated that power was estimated to be restored by 7 p.m., but as that hour neared, the estimate was changed to 10 p.m.

But it will probably be a longer wait that.

A DP&L spokesman told the News Journal that a crew was finishing up another job before heading to replace the Wilmington transformer, and those customers may be without power until closer to midnight during one of the hottest days of the year.
