Farmers Market debuts Kids Club; children can shop for fruits and veggies

The Clinton County Farmers Market is pleased to announce the formation of the 2017 Clinton County Farmers Market Kids Club through the generous support and sponsorship of HealthFirst of Clinton County and the Ohio Farm Bureau.

The three main goals of the Kids Club are to: empower children to make healthy food choices; strengthen and sustain healthy communities through supporting farmers and cultivating future farmers’ market supporters; and expand the farmers market into a place where children can try new vegetables and learn about healthy eating and lifelong lessons for healthy habits such as exercise.

The 2017 Clinton County Farmers Market Kids Club is for children ages 5-12. Registration begins July 29 with the Kids Club ending on Sept. 30

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To register, stop in at the Market Booth at the Farmers Market beginning July 29 to become a member.

Each child will receive a “membership card.” Each time the child visits the farmers market, they will stop in at the market booth to have their “membership card” stamped and receive two $1 vouchers for purchasing fresh vegetable and/or fruit. Children are encouraged to become their own shoppers making selections of their favorite vegetable or fruit and to try something new.

The Kids Club members will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as, cooking demonstrations, scavenger hunts, art projects, food sampling and other activities at the market.

The Clinton County Farmers Market is very grateful to the support of our community and sponsors.
