Mother, daughter win ribbons

Both artist Elena Raye Clair of Wilmington, right, and her daughter Alice, left, received honorable mentions at the 50th Howard Chandler Christy Art Show in McConnelsville, Ohio in Morgan County. Elena’s winning entry was her oil pastel on canvas, “Windy Blues II”, which family contributed to as well. Alice received her ribbon in the applied arts division of the 11-and-older youth bracket. The recognition was for a beaded owl she created, which was not available for the photograph. She also entered beaded bracelets and pencil and ink drawings for the show. Elena was the featured local artist in July at the Wilmington Public Library.
