More state fair champs in county’s past

0

We recently asked any current or former Clinton Countians who were not included in the list of past Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions (provided by the state) to contact the News Journal.

We are happy to say we heard about several:

• Lifelong Clinton Countian Alexandria Vaughan in 2007 had the Grand Champion Market Barrow (sold to Kroger for $30,000) and in 2009 she had the Reserve Champion Market Barrow (sold to Steve R. Rauch Inc. for $15,500).

• Rachel (Doak) Swartz of Bishop, Georgia and formerly of Wilmington won Grand Champion Market Hog in 1992 with her Duroc Barrow.

• Brother and sister from Blanchester both had the Champion Pen of Three Meat Chickens — John Penquite in 1977 and Meg Penquite, twice, in 1980 and 1981, one of those years being a Reserve Champion.
