Wilmington Middle School kicked off the school year Wednesday with the Sandy Hook Promise, “Start With Hello.” Students were greeted by staff members with a warm, “Hello” as they walked under a welcome banner to enter the building. “The Start With Hello program teaches students the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school,” said WMS Guidance Counselor Mary Groves. “Students will complete various activities the first week and through the school year that are designed to reduce social isolation within the school and our community.”
