Man hurt in I-71 motorcycle crash

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Highway Patrol Post is investigating a one-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 71 north of US 68 in Liberty Township, Clinton County.

Troopers from the Wilmington Patrol Post responded to the accident at 1:28 p.m.

Jay B. Tyner, 56, of Batavia, was driving northbound on I-71 while operating a 1980 Harley Davidson motorcycle. According to the OSHP, Tyner drove off the left side of the roadway into the grass median, the motorcycle overturned and Tyner was ejected. He was not wearing a helmet, the OSHP stated.

Tyner was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight due to his injuries. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the OSHP.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Fire and EMS and Port William-Liberty Township EMS.
