CHESTER TWP. – The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a minivan and a motorcycle. The crash occurred Saturday, Sept. 9 at approximately 6:05 p.m. on State Route 380 at Brimstone Road in Chester Township.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, operated by Shawn Martin, 31, of Springfield, was traveling eastbound on Brimstone Road. According to the OSHP, Martin failed to yield from a stop sign and struck a northbound 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Timothy Holiga, 62, of Waynesville.

Holiga was pronounced dead by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. Martin and his passengers were not injured.

Alcohol or drug use does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the OSHP; Holiga was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
