WILMINGTON — Former Wilmington City Schools Superintendent Ron Sexton will be the grand marshal of the Homecoming Parade this year.

The annual WCS parade will be held Oct 5. The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m., 30 minutes earlier than last year’s event.

The parade lineup will be in the high school parking lot and middle school loop. All students participating in the parade should be dropped off in the middle school teachers parking lot, which can be accessed off Howard Street via West Vine Street.

The high school parking lot and the circle drive in front of Rodger O. Borror Middle School will be closed to traffic.

Parking will not be allowed in the teachers parking lot, the middle school loop or the high school parking lot.

The teachers parking lot at the middle school will be used for drop-off and pick-up of elementary students in the parade.

Thorne Avenue will be closed from W. Locust Street to Clinton Street, and Richardson Place will be closed to all traffic except parade vehicles.

The parade route will be the same as last year, Thorne Avenue to W. Locust Street to Farquhar Avenue to Main Street to Mulberry Street to W. Locust, returning to Alumni Field for the pep rally and crowning of the king and queen.
