ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie Elementary School students were excited to receive new jump ropes and playground balls donated by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

Deputy Danny Wood recently noticed that a number of the school’s playground balls were no longer staying inflated and jump ropes were worn out. Deputy Wood serves as the full-time School Resource Officer and D.A.R.E. program instructor for Clinton-Massie Local Schools.

After Wood spoke with his supervisor, the sheriff’s office decided to donate the playground items to the students at Clinton-Massie Elementary through the D.A.R.E. program.

According to fifth-grade teacher Judi Sternsher, “With 140 students on the playground, the new balls and jump ropes really help to provide all the kids with something fun to do at recess.”

Similar items were donated to Sabina and New Vienna Elementary Schools in the East Clinton Local Schools District which also are served by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. program.
