Apt. B to perform at The Escape

WILMINGTON — Apt. B, which is a Washington Court House area band that includes a Clinton Countian, will be the music act on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at The Escape’s outdoor stage in downtown Wilmington.

The band plays classic rock into the 2000s.

There is a cover charge. The outdoor stage was unveiled this year as part of a major remodeling and expansion project at The Escape, which sits next to the new Xidas Park green space.

Apt. B is making a return visit, having played at The Escape in July. For more information, go to the band’s Facebook page.

Wilmington’s Tolliver part of hurricane relief efforts

Joan Tolliver of Wilmington was one of 150 student volunteers for “Raider Aid: Operation Purple.” Students from the University of Mount Union collected donations at 16 businesses throughout Alliance, Ohio to benefit those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

On Friday, Sept. 15 alone, Raider Aid raised more than $5,000 to be donated to the American Red Cross. Twelve students planned the event in less than two weeks by working with the Regula Center of Public Service and Civic Engagement.

The day of service concluded with an on-campus rally to encourage student donations.
